The city of Carpinteria is a quaint beachside slice of heaven just south of Montecito and Summerland.  Generations of locals embody a community spirit that exists here, with a solid sense of pride and caring involvement that is palpable among its residents. Beach lovers, surfers, and anyone seeking a slower pace will find what they are looking for. Along the coastal map the infamous surf location of Rincon Point on the south, and exclusive Padaro Lane on the north flank this sleepy coastal haven of perfection.

The main artery of Linden Avenue cuts through an eclectic mix of funky surf shops, fine antiques, trendy boutiques, and a variety of locally owned coffee shops and restaurants. The wide sandy beach with over 4,000 feet of ocean frontage is home to a pleasing variety of architecture from low-rise condominiums, vacation homes, and well-maintained beachfront properties taking full advantage of being directly on what has for years been known as “The World’s Safest Beach.”  In the foothills, grand estates and ranch properties dot the landscape and enjoy ocean views that overlook the calico blanket of commercial nurseries, avocado orchards, estuaries, and plenty of blue coastal sky. Off the coast dolphins and whale sightings are a daily occurrence; waterfowl including egrets and pelicans take to the skies in a graceful year-round dance.

The California Avocado Festival is not to be missed. Each October in this otherwise quiet haven, over 100,000 people dive in with passion into this memorable locally run extravaganza of colorful sights, tasty treats, art, music….and “everything avocado.”
